Rebecca Gibb: Ah, 2003—before you even pick it up you are thinking hot vintage. And this was the earliest harvest ever recorded at Figeac, but also the most extended. The wine jumps out of the glass and bops you on the nose with the most incredible aroma of tea leaves. Next comes some game and some medicinal aromas that suggest something bacterial going on. The dry, austere finish means this particular bottle disappoints, which is a shame because the concentration in this wine is incredible. Another bottle might well have scored more highly. Drink now.
