Michael Edwards: Shown just third in the lineup. Of similar lees aging as the Version Originale, I’d guess, but for me the brightest star of the tasting, outshining even the older Vintage wines. The lieu-dit Carelles is actually two parcels, one south- and one southeast-facing, catching the morning sun. How the best Mesnil loves heat to balance the stony soils! At once seductive, sensual, and mineral. A rocky titan of riveting complexity, reminiscent for Anselme himself of Meursault Perrières. A grand monsieur, and heaven with raw Dexter beef and kohlrabi.
