Bruce Schoenfeld: Made in part by Warren Winiarski, who later founded and ran Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars, in an unfinished winery with “sawdust in the air” (as Winiarski describes it), this was Mondavi’s top bottling in its inaugural vintage. It’s lovely, very much like old Bordeaux, still limpid and even rather crisp. It might be confused for the 1966 Palmer, but for a shortish finish.
