Bruce Schoenfeld: Tasted during dinner, this is the one wine of the collection that I would characterize as overly oaky, at least at this stage. It was a rainy year with a harvest that started in late August and continued into November, but the wine doesn’t seem underripe. Instead, it’s very much a Napa Cabernet of its era, with a whole lot of everything stacked up together. There’s plenty of fruit, plenty of alcohol (14.5%), firm tannins, a viscous mouthfeel, and prominent cedar and vanilla notes straight from the cooperage. Only 75% new oak, but I feel like I can taste every stave.
