Jasper Morris: Labeled Clos des Epeneaux but no mention of Pommard. A neck label declares it the property of Lieutenant Comte Armand! Despite the deep ullage, the wine was still alive. A light-orange color with a yellowing edge. The bouquet gives off a faintly discernable ancient Pinot bouquet, with a trace of volatility and gentle oxidation—reminiscent of very fine Madeira, perhaps. There is still a touch of fruit sweetness on the palate. Just hanging on, and a real pleasure to try a wine of this age.
