Nicolas Belfrage: Quite deep, with beginnings of orange on the rim. Seriously persistent perfume of dark berry/ morello cherry. Rich and full, with dark chocolate and berry/cherry fruit, firm tannins, and bright acidity; not quite together yet but promising much. Drink from 2017. 17
Bruno Besa: Dark garnet to pink; ruby rim. Open, a touch jammy, yet clean and quite complex small redfruit nose and hints of mint. Soft round palate, with good tannic grip, yet a touch simple on the finish. A very well-made wine but, considering the vintage, not complex enough. 16
Andrew Jefford: Dark black-red in color. Cherry fruit and sweet oak, with a faintly mentholated back note. Generously constructed on the palate, and there’s a huge amount to enjoy in lavishly sweet style. Resolution and grandeur come at the end, as the fine, ample tannins redeem the sweetness and set you thinking of the hills and the vineyards—an impressive finish. Would win a higher score still if the oak didn’t obtrude quite so much on the aromatic profile. 16
