Tim Atkin: deep garnet, with brick- red notes. tea leaf and violets on the nose, with a hint of Pinot noir-like gameyness. Savory, spicy, and complex. Very appealing aromas. Rich, spicy, well balanced with a little bit of reduction, medium to full tannins, fresh acidity, some clove spice, and impressive length. Still a baby at the moment, but a wine that has the power and freshness of a top brunello. long and still young. 17.5
Nicolas Belfrage: Medium depth, definite turn on rim. Warm, inviting sandalwood and fresh/dried aromas. attractive, ripe but not overripe, expressive but not overstated fruit on the palate, mouth-filling and long, with good balance of parts. this is what one would like to think of as typical of the vintage. Drink from 2013 for 10+ years. 18
Bruno Besa: deep garnet to tawny rim. Open, mature cedarwood-and-small- red-fruit nose, with hints of toasted hazelnuts and strawberry jam. medium to full body, with lots of tannins and clean, small red fruit. A touch unbalanced and still needs time. 16.5
