Nicolas Belfrage: A little reticent on the nose, but develops with air. Attack reveals some astringency, with firm tannins and grapefruity acidity, complete with slight bitter twist. A wine of parts, which at the moment are not entirely together, but it promises well. Drink from 2018/19. 90
Bruno Besa: Deep garnet to tawny rim. Broad, mature, smoky nose, with prune juice, raw meat, bitter cherries, and loads of oriental spices from clove to cinnamon. A muscular palate, with huge yet refined tannins, mature black fruits, and a very long, refined, complex finish. A massive wine that will need a few years to blossom. 94
Andrew Jefford: Deep though not opaque black-red. Very Sangiovese here, with its scents of apple, of bay, and of red plums and sense of dappled light and shade, of fullness and briskness combined. Some oak is evident but it’s well judged and collegiate. Dense, full, mouth-filling, with ample textures and ample fruit alike, and seamlessly integrated. Fine work here. At the generous, ripe end of the spectrum but beautifully overseen through the aging process and with much to offer in the years ahead. A fine wine. 94
