Nicolas Belfrage: Bright, attractive color. Slight reduction on nose, or is it barrique? Probably the latter. Suave and silky on palate, made to seduce with comparatively lowish acidity, but where’s it going? Almost ready now despite compact character. 15
Stephen Brook: Sweet nose with a hint of reduction, or perhaps it’s just some overripe fruit marking the aromas. Broad and supple, a juicy forward style, though there is ample concentration and power that creep on the mid-palate. There’s some pep and spice rather than profundity or complexity. For my palate, it’s a touch too ripe, though there are tannins to balance the sheer fruitiness. But this certainly has an immediate and crowd-pleasing appeal. Good length, and for all its immediate appeal, this will have some staying power. 16
Andrew Jefford: Mid-depth dark garnet. An attractive if relatively simple aromatic profile dominated by curranty red fruits with a minty cast. Smooth, tangy, open, and accessible; smooth though present tannins; a light yet penetrating style to the dry redcurrant fruit. Straightforward though satisfying, for relatively rapid drinking. 12.5
