Nicolas Belfrage: (cc: water-pale = 1; deep gold = 9) cc5. The first ramato (“coppercolored”) wine, reminding readers that Pinot Grigio is a pink-skinned grape and that this color, unlike all the others, is natural, with just a bit of maceration. From such a color, meaning maceration on skins, one would expect more pungency, and one gets it. The texture is creamy, though there’s very good acidity as well. Technically dry, it’s rich in perfume and flavor—a very good PG, which shows the limitations of the grape, because while being excellent of its class, it is not a great white wine. Nonetheless, it is a contender for top prize in this tasting, scoring heavily in the typicity stakes- 16.5
Marcel Orford-Williams: Heady, dry, alcoholic. Unbalanced, dull- 10.5
Joanna Simon: Bright, pale-copper color. Leafy, fresh mineral nose. Big, dry, nutty, stony-mineral palate, with sappy fresh, green-peach fruit. Rich, concentrated, zesty, dry. Quite solid. Needs a little more lift and elegance- 14
