Domaine Albert Mann Alsace Grand Cru Schlossberg Riesling 2021 (13.5% ABV) – 91
SR | This 2021 Schlossberg Riesling shows a clear, bright, fresh, and flinty nose of ripe, white fruits and is finely concentrated. Fresh and elegant on the palate, this is a savory, lush, and finessed grand cru, with a clear, dry, fresh, and cleansing finish and lots of salinity and energy. It is a straightforward Riesling with a stimulating citrus finish and a fine grip. From a classic vintage. 93
AJ | Very pale, spun-steel white-gold. Pure, washday fresh, lanolin clean, and sweet when first poured. Unphenolic, unpungent, and unterpene-like: stealthy and pristine. Like smelling fresh air when you're downwind of a spring cherry orchard. Seductive though uninsistent. This changes with time in the glass, however, and after 10 minutes the wine drinks air and grows more pungent, more vegetal/grassy, more hyacinth bulblike. In the mouth, this is a bright, pungent, restrained, acidic, almost shard-like Riesling; hard not to imagine the glittering stone underfoot. Pure, clean, and living/layered; mouth-watering, too. A classic Schlossberg of restrained style. 89
AR | Pale greeny-lemon in color, this is pleasingly fresh and perfumed, with gentle floral notes still youthfully elemental; there's a light tingle on the tongue, good weight and texture to the wine when you taste, with an intensity of concentrated citrus fruits whose zesty acidity maintains an appealing youthful freshness throughout a seamless dry white whose underlying acidity leads to a satisfyingly dry finish and considerable aging potential. 92
