Coessens Largillier Lieu-Dit Extra Brut Champagne France 2014 (12% ABV) – 89
SF | Lemon-green, quite a gentle rim. The mousse does not overexert itself either. Spruce, resin, apple, and poached pear, quite finely managed, the acidic structure deft but appropriate in its rigor, the fruit tapered but elegant. An aperitif style, drinking well now. 92
EA | Bright lemon color. A fine, fragrant, and expressive, toasty nose with sweet fruit in opulence. White peach and red apple, with a flick of vanilla. The palate does not quite reach the purity and charm of the nose. Fleshy and silky-flowing, the wine ends on a sweet, fruity note. 2023–30. 92
TH | This shows some greenness, with an early-picked character. Hedgerow, wild apple, and bitter lemon dominate, the palate tangy and full of hard apricot and grapefruit. Not totally aligned. 83
