Château Suduiraut Sauternes Bordeaux France 2019 (14% ABV) — 94.5
SF | Generous Suduiraut colour, unabashed and gregarious....the nose follows suite; fruit, spice , cream and lignified tight-grained wood, the latter not over-blown. Lovely barley sugar gingerbread sweetness and enough evidence of botrytis to support the edifice with aplomb. One of the riper and richer examples in our tasting, but also one of the more precise and linear; not cloying or over-worked, despite the evident maturity and sugar and the inference of a late pick. An impressive contradiction at work here.... 93
AJ | Deep, vivid lemon-gold. Rich, weighty and serious, with very complex aromas. Lots of buttery charm; the fruits are classic apricot, pineapple, mango; there is something reminiscent of scented aroma hops (grapefruit and rose) on the nose, too, and there are dried citrus peels as well. It's quiet as yet -- but all the ammo is there ... On the palate, this is wonderfully rich and expressive, sensual and alluring, dripping with honey and cream, fragrant with linden. Complete and ample: hard to do better, I suspect, in this vintage. From among the range we have tasted, this is certainly the reference; and it is still young, so we can expect the expressive volume to get amplified over the next ten years. Gorgeous -- and it achieves a mineral-salty flavour density that none of its peers quite seem to manage, too. Heaven.Drink Dates: 2024 - 2044. 96
