SF | Attractive, deep-auburn color, with a watery rim; palate and nose both are understated, charming and elegant, with no volatility, not too much alcohol (it seems), and all very composed. Deft, lively, and fully resolved, with just the slightest hint of green wood. This is an eloquent and composed example, very complete and eminently approachable, despite it mere 49 years of age! 92
AJ | Very light and bright now. Refined, soprano aromas, brimming with milky grace yet fleshy and firm, too; alert. Lovely, clean, dried fruits and showered skin: grand sensual charm, yet done with such grace and restraint and purity that you don't realize that all your carnal buttons are being pushed. A very enticing aroma, in sum. Gathered and pure on the palate, rosebud fresh, for all that, with relatively generous sweetness but lovely, aged complexities, too—field and copse as well as orchard and summer fruits laid out to dry. Mouthfilling; perfectly pitched weight; and a lovely, cleansing tang at the end, too. Hard to better this. 2024–30. 95
RM | Lovely, pale amber-tawny hues, with a green glint on the rim; lovely, roasted-almond character on the nose, lifted but not overtly so, with a touch of toasted, rancio-like complexity; supremely soft and suave, with silky textural richness still offset by freshness, leading to a lovely crème brûlée finish. Remarkable for a wine of this age. 96
