AJ | Bright and light, with garnet glints: wholly translucent and almost copper-orange at the rim. Very evanescent and understated on the nose, but very attractive too, for those patient enough to look: cooked plums, game jus, bread ovens. Lovely aromas, which are just ... quiet. Lots of silky refinement on the palate, though perhaps not quite as nuanced as I was hoping from the nose. But this is classic Verduno, very aerial and gossamer, floating down through your palate, guided by its finely winnowed tannins. Lovely teased ripeness here.Drink Dates: 2024 - 2032. 90
BB | Light garnet to tawny. Touch closed, timid nose with some red fruits, tobacco and cedar wood. Medium body, touch simple palate, watery finishDrink Dates: 2023 - 2025. 84
MP | Closed down at the moment with a hint of red fruit, sweet spice and hay. The palate shows ripe red cherry, red plum and a herbal note. In the mouth the wine shows some concentration and the fresh acidity perks things up but it lacks the extra gear expected of a Cru Barolo from this vintage.Drink Dates: 2025 - 2030. 91
