Osborne Coquinero Fino En Rama 500ml (17% ABV) — 90.7
SF | Soft green-gold with a hint of amber. Aromatics are dominated by white chocolate, forest floor, verbena and fig...the sappy, resonant voice of the barrel is more evident on the palate, then a resinous, saline character informs the finish; almost tannic such is its rigour; attractive, poised, elemental, challenging. All these positive rejoinders inspire further assessment... 91
AJ | Deep gold Warm, pungent, a little bit cheesy; ample nourishing aromatics to engage with, but lacks a little freshness and vivacity. Ok ... then on the palate you discover a different story altogether: that of deep, powerful, old fino on its way to being amontillado. I do think we have the right to ask for more aromatic intrigue, though, since that is so much of the pleasure of old wine, and a solera should always allow "the possibility of refreshment". This is sensationally deep and driving fino, regardless of aroma, and well worth your attention. I would just suggest that the refreshment side needs a little attention.Drink Dates: 2024 - 2025. 91
DW | Lots of force and intensity here, and glycerol and weight. Impressive, certainly, in its caramel and rye whiskey way, but does it have quite the detail and charm of other wines here? I'm not so sure.Drink Dates: 2024 - 2025. 90
