SF | Pale, watery , almost willing itself out of existence, Or so it would appear. The nose is surprisingly youthful, given its age, the palate very composed and trim, again , in th e light of its seniority. Almond, verbena and dried flowers head the descriptors, with little evidence of oxidation and no evidence of fade. Of medium concentration, for all that and just a little short on the interest quota. Enigmatic at the same time...how can this be?! 87
AJ | By far the palest of the unfortified cohort: more silver-green than gold. Primary and fresh, with the faintest whisper of soft, sweet fruits, much as I remember Castillo de San Diego ... in other words Palomino vinified as a fresh young white. Or is there just a whisper of flor in there somewhere? If so, it is truly only a whisper. Yes, softly fruity -- classic quiet and submissive young Palomino varietal. It has retained some acidity. Again, very little overt yeastiness or flor-legacy that I can see (if any). Pleasant.Drink Dates: 2024 - 2025. 88
DW | The oldest of the unfortified wines is also, curiously, the most primary, with more of a stainless steel character and fresh pear fruit. A subtle salty streak to the acidity and an easy fruitedness with just a touch of honeyed development. An easygoing dry white.Drink Dates: 2024 - 2027. 88
