Alison Buchanan: Opaque prune, this has an intriguing bittersweet nose, with caramel, citrus, sultanas, and dried apricots. The relative refreshment of the nose belied the total sweetness, unadulterated, of the palate, which is unctuous, syrup-like, and mouth-coating, with a backdrop of warm fruitcake. Beginning, middle, and end meld into one—so, to that extent, it lacks focus. 16.5
Jesús Barquín: Deep mahogany, almost black. Serious, complex, very intense, excellent acidity, a phenomenal wine, extremely long, displaying all the range of descriptors that can be expected: mocha, cocoa, dried apricots, incense, closed attic, and a drying finish, marked again by impressive concentration. Likely the ultimate old sweet PX. In my opinion, in a league of its own versus the rest of the wines tasted. 19.5
Julian Jeffs: Nose showing development. Good, caramelly finish, showing age. 17
