Bruno Besa: Garnet to pink. Open, rose-water, small-red-fruit, road-tar, and mineral nose, with a lively, sour-cherry and red-currant character. Medium body, bright acidity, and a clean, sour-cherry finish. A touch lean but well-made. 89
Andrew Jefford: Dark black-red though clear and bright. This will be better with a little air—will come back to it later. Some bottle reduction when first poured. Later the fruit begins to lift from the glass and the wine’s aromas grow more attractive after that slightly clumsy start. Dense and chunky on the palate, and once the wine is in the mouth and the warmth of the tongue is lifting aromas from it, all is well—this is very sound and satisfying. One to decant, but much pleasure awaits. (A better aromatic profile would have taken its score into the 90s.) 89
Michael Palij: More VA on this wine (perhaps it’s a house style) that robs the wine of the plush fruit necessary to provide a counterbalance to Nebbiolo’s already formidable tannins and acidity. This is lean, and what fruit there is, remains cloaked in VA. 88
