Nicolas Belfrage: Correct, medium-depth color. Faintly floral aromas. Warm and balanced on the palate, with good mouthwatering acidity and ripe tannins, with quite good if not particularly exciting fruit behind. Quite good length; has finesse and persistence. Drink over 10 years. 16
Andrew Jefford: Clear garnet to faint brick at the rim. Soft, mushroomy, tangled twigs, warm stones: not a hugely refined aroma but very classic and very satisfying. The woods in autumn. On the palate, quite dry and light—a tenor style. Lovely tone, precision, and poise, though. There is a misty, milky quality to this refined, poised fruit, so the dryness is not in any way hard or harsh. Another scoring challenge: How do you adequately reward lightness and finesse in this context? I’m going to be generous, as I feel very greedy to drink this wine; it may not be “big” but it is stylistically exquisite and refined. Silk-scarf Barolo. Don’t wait long, however. 16.5
Franco Ziliani: Medium ruby, bright color; very Nebbiolo style. The aromas are fresh, floral, and elegant with cherry, plum, and raspberry notes. Some orange, mint, leather, and cinnamon. Very attractive and fresh, medium body, good length, ripe fruit, soft tannins. Not great concentration but balance, harmony, finesse, and very savory and earthy on the finish. Still very young but ready to drink. Better in five years. 16.5
