Tim Atkin | Spicy, balsamic, with a volatile lift. Evolved, mature, spicy with Mediterranean herb notes and spicy, slightly drying tannins. | 89
Simon Field | Deep of hue, with an appealing nose of walnut, blueberry, and mace, a hint of lemongrass and black cherry, too. Evolving apace, very firm acidity, a citric undertow, a hint of chalk; a deft and pleasing resolution, gastronomically primed, with not much more to give, however. A hint of volatility is a little distracting. | 88
Andrew Jefford | Dark black-red though now translucent; red at the rim. Sweet, warm red fruits with a freshening menthol cast to them; dry hay and unlit tobacco, too. Relaxed, open, welcoming, fragrant, and enticing. Smooth, lush, open, and lyrical, with singing fruit qualities; vivid, deep, dancing fruits. There’s plenty of acidity and little hardness, with lots of savory depths; fine, soft tannins. Outstanding Rioja, with a bright core to it. A wine of great and lingering purity despite its maturity and age. | 95
