Stephen Brook | There’s a hedonistic charm to the nose, with its lush black and red fruits that have a direct appeal. This is mirrored on the palate, which is lush and fleshy, yet with a firm tannic backbone. It’s not very expressive at the moment but does have force and pungency. Fully ripe, yet with no trace of jamminess, this is a sturdy Brunello with good aging potential. Perhaps the finesse will emerge with more time. Long finish. | 92

Andrew Jefford | Dark, clear garnet-red. Very simple scents, very sweet, almost with a popcorn crackle to them. Lots of appeal but very little classicism (for me). A touch of VA, too? A rather soupy, simple style and lots of primary fruits. There is actually lots to enjoy and it doesn’t lack concentration; perhaps the aging regime is misconceived. I don’t find VA on the palate, and I don’t want to be too harsh with this rewarding and generous mouthful. But “Brunello” promises subtlety and nuance, and I don’t find these qualities here. | 84

Michael Palij | Lovely nose, with bread dough, vanilla, cinnamon, black cherry, plum, sultana, and dried honey all working together to create a powerful presence that is also evident on the palate with ripe fruit, fine tannins, and plenty of acidity. The finish rolls on with lashings of fruit justifying the evident structure. A classic example of Brunello and one that will keep until 2027. | 96
