Simon Field | Mahogany going on brick-blood; a little smudged at the edges; for all that, an attractive nose of strawberry and black pepper, hints of vanillin and raspberry compote; unchallenging, but resourceful. The same can be said for the palate, soft and gentle, red-fruit charm and a perfumed lift; lacking the weight and potential of some of the more reputed vintages, without doubt, but there is a lot to like here; just the right side of being “jammy," sweetly seductive and harmonious in extremis. | 90
Andrew Jefford | Rather aged in appearance already, as indeed are its two peers: a translucent oxblood red quickly dissipating towards the rim. Honestly pretty awful aromas: rather tired and flat, redeemed only by a little residual sweetness. Very little to hymn here. Tired and reedy on the palate, without any depth or density; all that remains to enjoy is the sugar and the spirit (relatively speaking—this is Vintage Port, after all). Disappointing for such a young wine. | 80
Richard Mayson | Mid-amber tawny color, looking fully mature; flat, roasted, and rather oxidized on the nose; volatile, too, on retasting; lightweight, without much fruit remaining. Initially some firm, rather lean tannins and an attenuated finish. Not going anywhere. | 74
