Stephen Brook: Opaque red. Lovely weight of fruit on the nose, luxurious, summer pudding. Broad, sumptuous, concentrated, fleshy, velvety, with a welcome dash of acidity on the mid-palate. It’s not showing great complexity now, but it seems very complete and balanced, and it certainly doesn’t lack depth. Has unusual grandeur and focus for Giscours. A welcome surprise. Quite good length. 15.5
Andrew Jefford: Dark purple-red. Refined and graceful. Milky, soft, and aerial. Pleasing, though not hugely detailed. Lush, warm, soft, and full: a rush of simple, tasty fruit uncomplicated by tannic frets or extractive poses. Just enough of those things to give shapeliness to the fruit. Well judged, and gets points for ripeness. 15
Michael Schuster: Brisk, ripe fruit and mineral nose. Very nicely balanced; full, fairly fleshy wine with a discreet, dry tannin. Warm, ripe, juicy, pleasing, with a nicely managed oak, some complexity across the palate, and good scented length. Will be a most attractive glass in three to four years. 2012–20. 16
