Simon Field: Youthful polish, well groomed, with an already sophisticated nose that marries herbs, dark fruit, and leather; the mouthfeel is generous, oh so sweet, hard to read in a sense, yet behind the almost cloying indulgence, the tannic custodians hold sway with silent persistence. Long and satisfying; herbs and sugar, impetuous and defined; a bitter-sweet symphony. | 91
Andrew Jefford: Dark, saturated black-red, with fresh, sweet, lively, perfumed aromas, lifted and poised. There’s lots of rose and orange peel here, as well as the classic spiced blackcurrant, bramble, and plum; vanilla to finish. Another magnificent scent in a year in which these seem to abound. Sumptuous, rich, textured, and fresh on the palate: a brilliant cascade of fruit is met with spices and multiple fruits. The tannins are ample, deep, and soft- contoured, perfectly buffered into the wine’s fruit. Exuberant, extravagant, and generous, with several decades ahead. | 93
Richard Mayson: Deep, opaque; closed and sullen on the nose, with underlying intensity and a firm stony character; a symphony on the palate, restrained yet showing wonderful purity of fruit, firm, fine-grained tannic grip rising in the mouth, leading to a beautifully fresh, vibrant finish, where the purity of the fruit shows through. | 95
