Simon Field: Brooding, darkly stained, and assertive, another powerful example from this formidable vintage. Spirit and acidity underwrite the tannic grip; dark fruit and naturally benevolent sweetness bolster the edifice, Palladian formal and built to last. | 89
Andrew Jefford: Dark, super-saturated black-red, with a swirl throwing a warm red-purple veil up the glass sides. Warm, beefy, nourishing scents, like consommé vapors drifting over the red-fruit base. Some cinder and ash notes, too. Not wholly classical, but brooding and powerful. Very impressive on the palate, and more classical than the aromas suggested, with lots of black fruit, as well as red, well supported by firm, driving tannins and meaty depths. Searching and structured, built for the long haul. | 91
Richard Mayson: Deep and dense, both in color and on the nose, ripe morello cherry and dark-chocolate character, liqueur chocolate nose. Gloriously rich and opulent on the palate, supported by ripe, fine-grained tannins leading to a big finish. Finesse showing, too. Wonderful. 2030+. | 95
