Simon Field: Aubergine going on purple, a deep, reflective pool, wherein one can discern the black-toothed smile of the taster; admirable restraint on the nose; mulberry and fig, even a hint of graphite. The palate is more linear than some, firm acidity and youthful primary fruit to the fore, hints of soot and saddle leather. The tension between the acidity and the pashmina ripeness is beguiling; the ensemble is finely rendered, long and persuasive. A little awkward in relative youth; only to be expected, I am sure. | 88
Andrew Jefford: Dark, somber purple-red. Fat, savory, meaty, with less fresh fruit scents than some of its vintage peers; crushed coal and charcoal, too. Exuberant and fruity on the palate, though, in plump and accessible style: brandied blackberry and cherry, and almost toffeed. | 87
Richard Mayson: Deep, opaque; ripe, heady, warm-country fruit on the nose, a touch baked; ripe and round initially, but the tannic structure doesn’t seem to be all there. Soft, milk-chocolate tannins on the finish. Rather one-dimensional. Drink fairly early. 2023–45. | 84
