Simon Field: Powerful of hue and aromatic, a worthy ambassador for a strong vintage, its millennial message expertly communicated by the essence of fine Vintage Port, namely integrated power, understated yet persuasive sweetness, and an authority on the finish. This wine captures this spirit, its own spirit tightly knit into the ensemble, a fruit-forward personality tamed by the intervening decade, its power no less obvious for all its subtle development. | 90
Andrew Jefford: Dark black-red, though no opacity remains. No bricking at the meniscus, either. Sweet, meaty scents come tumbling out over ample plum and bramble fruits: exuberant and enticing. Just how you’d like a glass of Vintage Port to smell. On the palate, this is a dark, relatively dry Port, with firm, brisk tannins and very classy fruits; the finish is brisk and engaging. | 89
Richard Mayson: Good deep center, youthful hue; still quite tight-knit on the nose, with lovely, pure berry fruit underlying, not yielding much as yet, so needs time to emerge; fine, firm, and seamless, with tight-knit berry fruit backed by firm, spicy tannins, quite lean in style but all there and with much more still to give; lovely length. This needs another five years at least to really show its paces. 2023–50+. | 92
