Simon Field | Nose a little mute, sooty, a touch lactic. En bouche there are hints of bell pepper and apple skin; the tannins appear initially rather lean, not lacking assertion, and with a ferrous grip... iodine and red fruit incite gastronomic potential, and the finish is poised, with a lick of white pepper. | 89
Andrew Jefford | Dark, dense black-red in color. A warm, autumnal scent of hedgerow berries and wet roads. Soft-fruited, vivid, gently textured, with more black cherry than berry fruit on the palate. Attractively easygoing, with sweeter fruit and relatively understated acidity for the cohort as a whole; chunky though ripe, soft tannins. It doesn’t seem particularly fine or ambitious in terms of concentration, purity, or drive of fruit, but I’d enjoy its relaxed wealth of fruit and texture. | 86
Charles Metcalfe | Ripe, slightly earthy aromas, with hints of silky, voluptuous fruit beneath. This is indeed very ripe-fruited, with an opulent side to it, as well as firm but gentle tannins. Acidity, tannin and fruit are well in balance, and the finish is soft and sunny, with medium length. A good reflection of a warm year. | 90
