BUY THE WINE

Simon Field | Dense inky color; nose a little reticent, a touch volatile; wild strawberries, a whisper of iodine and salinity; edgy, earthy, troubling, and ultimately challenging, but in a positive sense. A nice old-fashioned enigma. | 90

Andrew Jefford | Saturated deep black-red. A little muddled and stewy in its aromatic profile, but with some good things in there (spice, bramble, wet clay). Juicy, fresh, lively, with some leafy herbaceous notes, though these don’t disfigure the wine. Enjoyable, and with a little depth. A more attractive aromatic profile would win the wine a higher score. | 86

Charles Metcalfe | Rather an oxidative nose, with hints of volatile acidity dominating. It’s a mid-weight wine, with firmish tannins and high acidity, but the fruit and flavors are dominated by oxidation and volatile acidity. Not enjoyable. | 73
