Alex Hunt: Oxidative, bruised-apple nose. Also something tarry or chemical. Not appealing. Overextracted tannins, no complexity to speak of. Pretty tough and inarticulate- 10

Andrew Jefford: Deep, saturated. Lush, full, aromatically complex, many-layered, spicy-sweet, earthy, licorice notes, yet at the same time not wholly classical: There’s a slight lack of freshness to the fruit. Deep, vivid, intense, lively, searching; this flavor profile in fact reassures me after the aromatic hesitations. Lots of intense, crunchy, explosively energetic fresh fruit here, with ample textural tannins and a foursquare, satisfying palate profile. Complete and energetic wine- 16

Simon Larkin: Opaque in the glass; the nose suggests unevolved, youthful berry fruit, with leadpencil shavings. Sappy and grainy in texture; this is an odd example, with a deep, dark cherry fruit and little appeal. There is an incredible rasp of acidity—enlivening is not the word. Mid-weight, with a simple cherrylike fruit, this unevolved example struggles to find balance- 10
