Bruno Besa | Deep garnet to tawny rim. Fruit-driven, floral nose with banana skin and cranberry compote. Medium to full body, balanced, but with great tannic structure. A Barolo outside the norm yet inviting and well made. | 89
Stephen Brook | Discreet raspberry nose, with considerable purity of fruit. Medium-bodied and sleek, this is forward, juicy, and bright, with mild tannins and light acidity. There’s a lack of majesty here— Barolo needs grandeur, as well as fruit. It’s tough to penalize a wine for accessibility, though a 2012 Barolo should still show more in reserve than this. Quite long. | 88
Andrew Jefford | Clear deep red. A very distinctive nose: overt cherry and raspberry fruit, with a distinct lick of perfumed greenness: grassily arresting, and almost sherbetty. You can’t say it’s unlovely, but you could call it unsubtle and just a little odd. A deep, concentrated, smooth-textured, and exuberant palate, with the same kind of striking, primary, red-fruit-bonbon character the nose sketched out. Drinkable but not a grand classic. | 85
