Nicolas Belfrage: Medium deep with a garnet rim. Plenty of ripe, plummy fruit on the nose. Sweet and concentrated in the mouth, with just a hint of bitterness on the otherwise nicely balancing finish. Drink from 2015. 15.5
Bruno Besa: Deep garnet to tawny rim. Herbal, closed nose, with small black fruits and a hint of eucalyptus. Full body, with sweet black-fruit character, and a fairly long and clean finish. A very young wine that is difficult to judge at this stage. 16.5
Andrew Jefford: Deep, dark garnet with black hues. Powerfully aromatic, with lots of red-fruit force, but for me this also has a touch of herbaceousness, which I wasn’t hoping to find in 2010. There is also incense spice, cedar, tobacco, blackcurrant tips, Darjeeling tea: a head-turning combination. Masterful, deep, long, and complete in terms of its flavor spectrum, though there is not a lot of tannin or extract to it in the context of this tasting. Plenty of aromatic lift, plenty of personality—but that green element in the makeup is just not what I hope for. Others, though, may love the wine’s “freshness,” and it thus merits a good score. 13.5
