Bruno Besa | Lively ruby to tawny. Clean, intense, some oak, complex small-red-fruit nose. Unbalanced on the palate, though, with a sharp, almost volatile, character. | 82
Stephen Brook | Waxy red-fruits nose, with an ethereal floral character. Medium-bodied and initially tame, this gains in power on the palate. A restrained style, nonetheless, but there is some structure and an underlying firmness. There’s silk on the finish and this will become more elegant in time. Enlivened by acidity yet not particularly long. | 89
Andrew Jefford | Bright, clear, pale red. Less sweetly scented than some of its other “plain Barolo” peers, with fresher, brighter, more clearly sculpted cherry fruits and almost a sour-cherry edge. A touch raw. On the palate, this is dry and sharp/sour in style, but refreshingly so; there is ripeness to enjoy as well. Finely buffed and honed tannins, and overall a very elegant rendition of the year. Some earthiness at the finish, and complexity but without exaggerated or aggressive concentration. | 89
