Stephen Brook: Muted nose, rather blank - has fruit but not fruit definition. Rich, plump, ripe apricots, but then there's a note of bitter oranges, giving a rather sour finish. A lack of communication between the fruity attack and the aggressive finish. 10
Jancis Robinson: Pale. Prettier, more obviously alpine, than most Rheinhessen wines, though much less impact than many. A bit low-key and well mannered. Good for now. 14
Alexander Scott: Not dissimilar to the Wittmann Westhofen Aulerde. A hint of marzipan. Fairly big and voluptuous. Very good but not great. 15.5
