Simon Field: Imperious colour, nose gummy with hints of resin and forest floor. Palate surprisingly dense, very sweetly textured, but with sufficient tannic weight and balancing acidity to confirm its status. Very rich - a perfect ambassador for this vintage. 17

Richard Mayson: Closed and fairly impenetrable on the nose. Big and powerful in the mouth, with ripe, broad tannins building on to the finish. Raw and a bit green but should evolve well over the longer term. 15

Jancis Robinson: Purplish crimson. Vigorous, savoury, not especially sweet. Grown-up Vintage Port. Lovely weight and integration. Already hints at complex flavours to come. Great charge of all the elements needed. 17
