Simon Field: Richly sumptuous colour. The nose still sings prim ary fruit, yet with hints of development that are entirely harmonious. The palate is rich, ripe, unashamedly hedonistic and very agreeable to drink now. I think it will, in fact, evolve quite effortlessly; a class act, especially within its vintage. 17
Andrew Jefford: Decent depth of colour, with lots of black among the red. Fragrant, lots of classic blackcurrant at the core of the aroma, though no real creamy wealth or depth. Here is a logical consequence of what the aromas promised: medium depth (and medium tannic weight) providing a carapace for the fresh, elegant, almost crisp style of blackcurrant fruit. A very good effort and a lovely Port - probably one that will solicit overindulgence... 17.5
Richard Mayson: Very deep youthful colour, thin ruby rim. Lovely aromas of ripe morelio cherry with a hint of chocolate, and more to give. Rich, sweet, fleshy fruit with ripe tannins to back it up and lovely vibrant fruit on the finish. A good 1983, with tannin and fruit in harmony. 16.5
