Tim Atkin: Very developed color. Brown/tawny rim. Very oaky nose, impression of sweetness and Asian spices. Hot vintage? The wine is certainly pretty mature. The fruit is just about holding out, but this is a wine to drink now rather than to cellar: soft, gamey, and sweetish, with soft tannins. The oak dries the finish slightly. 16.5
Jesús Barquín: Deep ruby with brick-brownish rim. With its orange peel and leather, the nose announces a bright acidity that is confirmed on the palate, which is lively and enjoyable, with superb structure. A great example of classic Rioja made with excellent grapes. Traditional. 17.5
Marcel Orford-Williams: Great depth of color. Wonderful nose. Imperial? Multi-layered, complex. Very long. Complete. Old-style. 19
