BUY THE WINE

Alison Buchanan: Beautiful yellow-gold in colour, this has an attractive intensity on the nose: very pure apple notes and essence of melon with some caramel notes – good focus. The palate is disappointingly lethargic after the nose. It has something of that penetrating steel that had been so promising, but perhaps the vintage does not allow for that to come through. There is some freshness, though, but rather too rich and ripe, and mineral contrast, undeniably present, does not quite hold it together. 13

Nicolas Belfrage: Light-gold colour. Quite oaky on nose and palate, again missing the point of Soave crispness, lightness, raciness. Heavy, impressive, poco beverino. 14

Alex Hunt: A hard-boiled egg aroma – sulphur? But pretty stone fruit underneath. Structurally, this has real balance and class. There is both richness and definition of texture. I find it hard to ignore this egg flavour, though; it robs the wine of the purity and complexity it deserves. 14
