Andrew Jefford: Mid-gold. Rounded, full, almost earthy but not quite; lots of apple in the aroma, with the hot summer just providing a little of those tarte tatin caramelised flecks. Generous, soft, deep, long: lots of fruit and extract. Perhaps handled with a little less subtlety than some of its rivals, but the volume and power suggests that subtlety may im prove with time. Lovely firm mineral depth at the end; long and rousing. Fruit essence for the mouth! I would give it an even higher score were it not for its lack of aromatic refinement and charm at this stage. A very promising sleeper. 16.5
Simon Larkin : Mid-lemon in hue. The aromas here suggest ripe, aromatic lime, not dissimilar to a fine Clare Valley Riesling in terms of lifted fruit and austerity. The palate shows vibrance and broad fruit flavours and analmost iodine-like bite. Modest length and muffled fruit make for an equally modest mark. 13
Alexander Scott: Very ripe to smell, alluring. Ripeness again on the very full palate, but this is simpler than the Groebe Westhofener Aulerd, with less mineral extract, and it doesn't hold the attention as well. The finish could do with a little more zip, but this is still enjoyable wine. 14.5
