Simon Field: Opaque youthful colour. Pleasing drying notes with an edge of minerality. The palate is full, rich and quite luxuriant. Taut and youthful, the wine will evolve and acquire more definition and structural harmony over time. 16.5

Andrew Jefford: Dark, though not saturated or opaque. Pleasant, but not the thrusting aromatic power of the very greatest. Rich, tight-grained, dense, with generous though relatively open and accessible tannins, this is long, penetrating and has reverberant blackcurrant fruits. This will be a good 2000 provided the aromatic development follows on behind... 17

Richard Mayson: Good deep colour, thin purple-crimson rim. Closed, showing very little on the nose. Firm, quite dry and dense in style. Big, bold and powerful, with tannic intensity. Impressive. 17
