BUY THE WINE

Simon Field: Attractive colour, with a nose that is potent with potential, but this is a wine that doesn't entirely deliver on the palate: the tannins, acidity and fruit have yet to tie the knot. At the moment, the wine is disjointed and difficult to appreciate adequately. 15

Andrew Jefford: Full, deep red-black. It lacks the aromatic refinement of [the Noval Nacional and Quinta do Noval]. This is warm, sweet, and exuberant but doesn’t quite have the aromatic freshness one would hope for in such young Vintage Port. Full, tangy, fat but no real vein or sinew here. Not in the same league as [the Noval and Nacional]. 13

Richard Mayson: Very deep colour, thin crimson rim. Closed, but with underlying richness. Good, rich, opulent fruit. Big, firm, broad tannins with an explosive finish and very fine berry fruit. Good balance - complete. 17.5
