Nicolas Belfrage: Lovely colour, perfectly typical. Ethereal rose and tar nose of good typicality, though rather too much oak. Mouth-filling width and length, acidity and tannins in perfect balance. This is classic Barolo of the modern style with a symphony of flavours. Needs four to six years to come round, and then some. 16
Simon Larkin : Restrained aromatics, the palate suggests serious depth with dessicated cherry and damson, powerful grainy tannins and marked acidity. Remarkable restraint exhibited here; this suggests a wine that needs patience to knit fully. Really drying tannins suggest a highly, if not overly extracted effort. One wonders whether this will hang together with time, as currently all the structural components are disjointed. The tannins are remarkably firm, permitting little appreciation at its current state of maturity. 15.5
