Nicolas Belfrage:Medium-deep, with a correct level of depth and turn of colour. Positive volatility on the nose, with flowers, fruit and a touch of balsamico coming through. Classic Barolo type, firm acids and ripe tannins, nothing excessive, therefore not typical of 1997 but good. Real Barolo, I’d drink it now, most would leave it three years and drink for another 10-12, 16.5.
Simon Larkin :Slight undergrowth nuances on the nose. The palate is showing good breadth, quite forward, with a pleasing silky textual refinement. The fruit here is earthy, almost smoky, cherry in nature, withatannic bite to the finish. A tighter example, with some astringency to the back palate. Needs time, ideally six to eight years. 14
