Bruno Besa: Light garnet to tawny. Open, classic, earthy, spicy nose, with mushrooms, truffles, roses, and tar. Medium body, balanced, clean, classic Barolo, with a mineral, weightless, transparent character. Long and clean. Another wine not for long-term aging, just perfect now. 93
Andrew Jefford: Bright, clear black-red; translucent and glowing. Bottle 1: Some slight corkiness. We will look at bottle 2. Bottle 2: Warm, fresh, open, lots of charm and seduction, lifted and tender: classicism and grace. A sweet scent without overt sweetness of fruit: fragrant-sweet, if you like, in which flowers play as much a role as fruit. Funghi porcini, too. Very slender in the end, perhaps overly so; very submissive acidity, too. I can see the graceful charm of the village ideal, but this is a little short and slight and lacks some resonance. I didn’t find TCA on the nose of this second bottle but there is something suggestive of that on the palate, so check the supply line here. 86
Michael Palij: Marginally dusty aromas on the nose suggest that this wine is slightly corked. 85
