Nicolas Belfrage: More aromatics than the 1997, florally dominant. More concentration, more tannins too, and firmer acid. Has the structure to last a while. At the moment, not in balance, but give it time. Good character and well typed. 16.5

Simon Larkin : Deep, dusky red appearance, the aromatic here are unyielding. In stark contrast to the 1997, here the palate shows greater depth and precision. Time to knit is needed as the fine, assertive tannins and marked acidity currently create a sense of leanness. Showing a little disjointed, there is nonetheless a greater volume of fruit here, and perhaps more classical expression. This needs time for the potential to be revealed. 14.5
