AJ | Light and translucent, well-evolved, with some tile red at the rim, but plenty of glow too in this mid-garnet wine. Very forthcoming and very enticing aromatically: sweet, warm, rich arabesques: warm wooden sills on a sunny day, punnets of warm strawberries, ham stock. Creamy too. A super nose and it makes me want to drink. Tick! This is not super-deep on the palate, but everything which in in here is beautifully considered and defined: a wine of grand precision and purity. Soft, silky and stealthy on the palate, refined and floating, with relatively soft tannins but great aromatic finesse. You can take this at any age and it is already not far off its prime, though it will sit on the air like a kestrel for a decade or more.Drink Dates: 2024 - 2040. 93
BB | Deep garnet to pink. Mature, touch closed, clean, earthy, red and black fruits nose with some forest floor under tones. Medium body, touch simple palate yet clean and earthy with moderate finish.Drink Dates: 2025 - 2040. 89
MP | Wonderful, tertiary notes of forest floor, liquorice, autumn spice, leather and cooked black fruit. The palate has lovely integration of moderate acidity and ripe tannins and these structural components support the developed fruit character. This will not make old bones but it is a ripe and enjoyable glass of thoroughly decent Barolo.Drink Dates: 2026 - 2032. 93
