Nicolas Belfrage: Quite deep but bright. Attractive nose of wood, lanolin, and fruit. On the palate, a typical Brunello of the vintage: ripe, good but not sharp acidity, firm but not hard tannins. Sour cherry is the prevailing fruit. Medium length, attractive. Drink from 2016. 16.5
Bruno Besa: Deep garnet to tawny. Spicy nose, with mature black fruits and touches of cedarwood and smoked meat. Medium body; a touch simple and short on the finish. 14
Andrew Jefford: Deep black-red. Warm, earthy, glowing, almost furry aromatic profile; very attractive and inviting. Plum, blackcurrant, and blackberry, but a suede-and-pine richness, too. A wonderful wine on the palate, packed with ripe-fruited energy, lifting and tossing its plums and blackberries in the air. There are light but athletic tannins; there’s a fine vinous structure; the alcohol and ripe acidity are perfectly incorporated. The oak-leaf and bayleaf nuances complexify the fruit. Very diverting and pure. 17.5
