Michael Schuster: Fine, rich licorice, blackberry, and subtle mineral nose; very nicely balanced rich, full-bodied, concentrated wine, with a noticeably firm but fine-textured tannin; sweet, and complex flavor, generous, elegant, harmonious, long, and aromatic, and with excellent fruit and peppery aromatic length. A big step up in both class and concentration from earlier 1990s vintages; power and muscle, yes, but finesse and scope as well. Here, for the first time, you can understand the genetic parentage of a great Fonseca. Accessible already; better in another five years. 2015–30+ (September 2010). 17.5
