BUY THE WINE

Michael Schuster: Mature, brick-edged dark red; ripe, faintly raisiny nose, a little raw even at 12 years, the fruit dense but lacking class; warm, moderately rich, fleshy mediumweight with less “fat” than the 1991 but also less fierceness; the alcohol remains noticeable, maybe because there is not the complexity of aroma and flavor to mask it. Moderate scope, medium length, a touch hot to finish. Now to 2016 (January 2009). 15
